NEILA’S RUN FOR THE TITLE: "The race win helped me calm my mind and focus"

Thursday, 10 July 2025 10:06 GMT

WorldWCR’s 2025 title contender has shown pace and charisma in spades so far this 2025 season, and ahead of Donington, Neila sat down and reflected on her campaign so far

Beatriz Nelia (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) has kicked off her sophomore season with a bang in 2025 as the #36 has established herself in the thick of the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship title battle. A third of the way into the season, the Madrid native has already equalled her 2024 podium and fastest lap tally, a feat she credits to her intense off-season training regimen to not only get her body into competition shape, but to grow closer to the bike and come to a better understanding of its mechanics.

The WorldWCR season got underway in April, debuting the 2025 season at the historic TT Circuit Assen. That famous stage was not too big for the 22-year-old as she nearly completed a double had it not been for a Track Limits penalty demoting her to second position in Race 1. Race 2 proved to be her breakout ride as she won the race in dramatic late fashion, gifting herself a tie for the title lead just two days before her 23rd birthday. She showed no fear going bar-to-bar with Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team), a rider who many had inferred would be the woman to beat after her very strong 2024 season, placing runner-up in the Riders’ Championship.

LOCKED IN: “That focus helped me to enjoy racing even more, enjoying doing interviews, racing on track, and just being around the paddock in general.”

“The weekend in Assen was amazing, to me it felt like I won both races. Still, at the end of Race 1, I touched the green and ended up in P2,” laughed Neila “In Race 2, I took my first victory. I’m happy because we executed the weekend super professionally, and it gave me a lot of motivation for Sunday. The race win helped me calm my mind a lot, and allowed me to focus on pushing, following the racing line, and maintaining my focus. That focus helped me to enjoy racing even more, enjoying doing interviews like this one, racing on track, and just being around the paddock in general.”

KEEPING THE IRON HOT: “I’m proud because it was a lot of work in the offseason, and it's already paying off”

Neila's experience in racing is hard to question, competing first in 2017 in the Red Bull Rookies Cup and European Talent Cup. She featured as a wildcard rider in WorldSSP300 intermittently between 2018 and 2021, including a full-season seat in 2019, which helped build her experience until she joined the WorldWCR paddock for their inaugural season last year. These spots helped her grow as a rider, however for the Madrid native, this most recent offseason has been a turning point, saying: “I worked a lot this winter, with the bike, in the gym, so I’m happy because we’ve taken a big step, and I’m proud because it was a lot of work in the offseason.”
